Trip to the Bavarian Alps...

Today we loaded up at drove to the Bavarian Alps, Wendelstein is a 1838 meter high mountain in South Germany.  It was about an hours drive from where we are staying.

We traveled by an train cars that were originally built in 1912 to the top of the mountain...this tool about 25 minutes.  Once we were there we posed for a few pictures and were able to take the paths to the top.  That was very cool!  From there you could watch the clouds rolling in and out and the weather would change with that.  While we were there, the clouds were around us for most of the time, but for a brief few minutes, the clouds passed by and the sun broke free and it was breathtaking.  Or maybe that was the altitude.  Between the hike up the mountain and the thin air, I had several reminders of my lack of physical conditioning.  But we all survived the trip...both up and down.  It was a wonderful experience, there

was a band playing at the platform when we got off the tram, they were dressed in traditional clothing.  It was quite cool.  Some of the kids were able to take pictures with them.  Unfortunately, I missed out on that because, well, I was much slower coming down the path!

That was it for the day with the kids.  Jamie, Beth and returned to our host family's home and relaxed for the afternoon then out for dinner with some of the teachers and Mr. Fuchs.

By the way, Mrs. Holt, Bettina said to tell you hello!

That is all for today from Bavaria...Guten Abend!
