“Before the rise of the printing press in the sixteenth century, stories were passed down orally. The older people in a community shared the important stories of their history…all principles and values of life woven within these gripping narratives. They shared these stories with each other, and with the next generation. It was a part of their culture…their lives.” - Randy Frazee (The Story) ... How well do you know our story?

Week One of Term Two...the Civil War
This year for the Civil War I am trying something totally new...the entire unit curriculum is based on "The Civil War: a Film by Ken Burns". You will receive a video companion worksheet to use while watching each of the nine episodes. You will also receive a handout for each episode which contains a short overview of the episode, a timeline of the episode, as well as a couple of questions. After each episode, you will be asked to select one of the questions and answer it on the back of that page. Some questions may require a bit of research outside of class. The write-ups for the Civil War can be found on Skyward as well as on a link on the blog (links are located at the top right side of the page.) A determination as to the format of the test will be made at the end of the unit. There may be an occasional worksheet and/or handout as we go. I really believe this will be a fun and interesting look at the Civil War.
